In the last post You were exposed to some of the benefits of managing info products. Now You need to choose which type of information products You want to sell, the subject of Your content, You need to define Your market. In other words, You need to define Your niche market.

When You are starting out it’s not a good idea to sell everything about everything, I mean, You must choose a subject, an area, a niche.

This is really important and You have to be extremely careful because this step can dictate whether You will become very successful (and hopefully wealthy) or fail completely and give up Internet marketing or online business forever.

Basically, You can go 3 ways:

1 - If You already have a business off line You might want to expand Your business by going online thus expanding Your market. In this case, You probably already have a lot of ground covered. You already have a product, a defined market, some marketing strategies and so on.

2 - Think of a passion or a hobby of Yours and that might be a good area for You to develop online. In this case, the advantage is that it’s a subject that You already know something about or at least will take great pleasure in studying and researching, etc.

3 - Think of something that is profitable already and step into it. This is good for people that don’t seem to find a niche that would allow them to make money online or for those that are simply looking for ways to profit online and not necessarily in a niche related to their primary job or passion. 

So take some time and think what route You want to take. Any of those is a good path to get started online and can bring You a lot of money.

The advent of the Internet brought a lot of new opportunities and it’s important that we all take advantage of what it has to offer in as many ways as possible.

Starting an online business has a lot of great benefits, when done correctly…

First of all, it gives You the opportunity to work from home or from wherever You want to be. You just need a computer, an Internet connection,etc.

There are endless ways for You to make money so You can find one (or more) that suits Your interests, previous knowledge, Your goals.

As You progress, it can become fairly automated although I think it’s something that requires some experience and also You must take in consideration the specific requirements of Your business, Your current budget, etc.

I think You should start by setting up a business on information products. Why?

Well, here are some of the benefits:

1- It’s not expensive to get started - You have to make some investments in the beginning but it’s all very afordable when You compare to an offline business.

2 - You can work anywhere that has an Internet connection. This means You could be working at home but also in any other place that You decide to go.

3 - You can become Your own boss. This means You can set Your own work schedule, Your vacations, days off. However, this is something You can only do if Your business is doing well enough to replace Your previous job. Look for consistency not “spikes” of income.

4 -It’s easier to get Your own products out there. Since it’s usually delivered digitally that means it’s not so complicated to “make” those products.

5 - With digital products you don’t have to handle and ship physical products so there aren’t shipping costs or damaged merchandise or even lost orders in the mail,…

6 - Also You don’t really need employees although You might want to, so You can work even less

7 - With a digital product You do the work once and You get paid for it over and over again. In case of an ebook, You don’t need to write it again, or to print more copies to keep making money with it.

8 - Usually the profit margins are really high. You take some of Your time to create the product but then You don’t spend any money at a factory to be able to sell Your product. Also You’re selling information, not a tangible product. This means that if what You are selling is high quality You can ask good money for it and people wont mind paying that price. How much is worth a good recipe or an ebook that teaches You how to make a lot of money online or a book that shows You how to meet and keep the woman of Your dreams? Priceless, right? Just make sure that what You are selling is good quality and eveybody will be happy! I’ve seen information products for thousands of dollars selling out in minutes! It was done by established authors in their market, of course and the buyers were more than happy to pay for it. 

9 - You can get creative with the way You deliver Your content, Your information: You can do it through ebooks, audio files, video files, teleseminars, and many more.

10 - Once You are established You can run Your business in auto-pilot, using short-term or long-term employees. You just need to get access to some software and other resources that will allow You to leverage Your time and money. There are business opportunities out there that are 100% automated or at least 90% but that’s not where people usually start.

OK. I would like to summarize all this I’ve been talking about.

If Your getting started online in any business whatsoever there are some important things to keep in mind:

1 - Yes it’s possible to make money online and there are people making millions on the Internet.

2 - Stay away from Get Rich Quick Schemes unless You know what Your doing, IE, it is recommended by someone You trust (e.g. establish expert or author)  or has had good results with that program, product, service, etc 

3- A good starting point might be to decide in which area You would like to develop a web-based business.

4- You may also start by researching on who should You follow and learn from to develop Your online business. 

5 - In case of being overwhelmed with information unsubscribe from some of the experts email lists, stop buying product after product and start working with what You already have. Keep those You trust the most and that deliver the most value to You ( yes allow yourself to be selfish… You deserve it!!). I mean this even if it means loosing You as a reader.

6 - Take Action. You just need to Start. Then You’ll have something to improve. It doesn’t need to be perfect for You to start.

7 - Keep investing In Yourself. Keep Investing in Your education.

8 - Once You feel the time is right You can start investing in other products, programs or services.

9- Repeat the whole process again! 

I guess this represents my perspective on the subject and I hope this helps You. It doesn’t mean that there aren’t other ways of doing things and I will keep posting on this subject but my goal is to always share with You what I believe to have brought me failure or success. I went through those steps myself and I’ll be introducing You everything or everyone that has helped me until now and hopefully short-cut Your way to the fulfilment of Your Goals!

In  my previous post I talked about things You should avoid when starting online. Get a coach or a mentor if You can, avoid get rich quick schemes, educating yourself,etc.

In case You don’t have a lot of money what You should do is to invest in yourself. I mean, You should do some research on making money online, Internet marketing and keep investing Your TIME in order to become comfortable in this business.

With time You’ll start recognizing the experts, the terms related to Internet marketing, the several ways you can make money online. This way You can then choose Your path to online riches with much more confidence :) !

Then You’ll start feeling exactly the opposite: You’ll get so much new information and opportunities that you’ll start feeling overwhelmed. Maybe You are feeling that right now…

What to do then?

Well, I’ll shoot my own foot here but You need to stop that flood of knowledge and start taking action with what You already have.

How?

Easy:

Just unsubscribe from all of the experts lists and just keep with the ones You trust, that deliver more value, that are more suitable to Your own personality.

Stop investing in ebook after ebook or program after program without actually trying them.

Keep in mind You can only learn so much for free. There will come a point where You’ll need to invest some money but it’s much safer when You do it after You’ve learned the basics and know where You want to go, what Your goals are and specially Who should You follow. So instead of getting someone as a mentor You can follow his or her advice, buy the products they recommend, stay on their lists so You keep getting free information but also start having access to the right resources and products.

Hi! OK, I admit, my last post left some confusion in the readers minds. So I would like to develop the subject a bit more.

First of all, all of my posts will be MY perspective on a subject either from my own experience or through what I learn from others, so I don’t have all the answers and I never stop learning (hopefully!). When I say that the get rich quick type of schemes don’t work doesn’t mean that You cannot find one that works. What I am certain though is that most of them don’t work, especially if You are just starting out or you don’t have a lot of money already. If You want to try those types of programs at least  go for the ones recommended by someone You trust, that has tried the program or at least knows someone who has had success with it.

Here comes the part where I talk about getting a coach or a mentor. He or She will be presenting You the stuff that really works and that way You wont loose money, time, etc. I’ve also said that coaching programs are usually very expensive, better yet, require a good amount of money to get started. Expensive would be to spend $7 on a product and then not getting any money with it.

Right now you must be saying to yourself: “well this means it takes money to make money!” or “I don’t have a lot of money to invest so I will stay this way forever!”. It certainly is a lot easier to make more money when You already have a lot of money but even then You have to be careful and surround Yourself with the right people. However, You can compensate the lack of money through work, research, educating yourself, etc

So to make this clear, I’m not offering ( or selling) coaching programs, in a lot of ways I’m a newbie just like You. What I am saying is that You must invest if not money, at least the time to educate yourself on Internet Marketing, on making money online, and so on, so You can make the best choices ever. That way You can short cut Your way to success online and offline.

Everyday we hear great examples of people leaving their jobs and starting their online endeavors… However, a lot of people seem confused about what should they do first. Where to start? Suddenly they see these great ads promising millions online working “five minutes a day” or “not working at all” and they think “Great!! Finally I found the secret to all those millionaires online!”. That’s when they get lost, they end up spending their money beyond credit card limit ( beyond reasonable limits if You ask me!) until one day they give up. They assume that they were scammed and that it’s not possible to make money online and go back to their life or what’s left of it. 

This is where I should say “I totally understand because I went through the same exact thing!”… but instead I will say… ARE YOU CRAZY????? Those things never work!!!!!! I’m sorry to disappoint You but If it looks too great to be true than it probably is! There are exceptions, thought… If You win the lottery or something.

I’m not saying  You should give up being online. I’m saying that You have to be very carefull and look for a SYSTEM that makes sense in You head.

So what’s the best first step? Well, get a mentor or a success coach. They will help You short cut Your way to success. Provided You get a good mentor it’s almost 100% certain (nothing is 100% certain) You will make money online. However, this can be very expensive but You will get Your money back many times!
